Grantham Canal Bridges Main Page

One of the major problems of restoring the Grantham Canal, is to re-instate the numerous road bridges to navigable height. To conform to road safety laws, line of site at bridges is needed to prevent accidents. An example being Casthorpe bridge, which used to have a sharp humped back to the bridge. This has now had to replaced by long approach embankments to give a more acceptable rise to cross the canal.
